The welterweight champion World Boxing Organization (WBO), Manny Pacquiao will face Shane Mosley, an old three-division champion, on May 7 in Las Vegas, said Tuesday the promoter Bob Arum.

The fight, which is held in the MGM Grand, is going to be held at the welterweight limit of 66.7 kilograms, said promoter Arum of Top Rank firm told Reuters in a telephone interview.

After considering an option between Mosley, lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico and the welterweight World Boxing Council (WBC, because of its acronym in English) Andre Berto, Pacquiao (03/02/1952, 38 KOs) Arum informed his decision last week in the Philippines.

Arum completed the match on Tuesday, he said.

Pacquiao and Arum would have preferred a showdown with unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr., but based on Arum, Mayweather didn’t respond to his tries to contact him.

American Mosley, 39, has a record with 39 knockouts 01/06/1946, but suffered a defeat along with a draw in their last two matches.
